Take Back Santa Cruz

Positive Loitering – Ocean & Franklin Streets

The first winding highway over the Santa Cruz mountains opened in 1919 and became Highway 17 in 1940, in all this time Ocean Street has been the gateway into our beautiful city.  Right now this area is becoming blighted.  The above corner, Franklin at Ocean, has been the site of over 240 emergency service calls in the last year, encompassing public drunkenness, prostitution, aggressive panhandling, drug use and drug dealing.

We are in talks with the businesses in the area.  We have compiled all the concerns of neighbors and put them in an action plan.  We are hoping that these business owners, police and TBSC leaders can come together to make a positive change for the area.  If you have any concerns you would like to share please do so at info@takebacksantacruz.com  It is our job as a community to fill the space with positive energy and work toward a shared common goal.

This gathering is peaceful.  We will have families, neighbors and friends coming together.  This is a piece of the process.  The action that the entire community can be involved in.  We have a permit from the city and stay safely on the sidewalks.  Feel free to bring a cup of your favorite drink, a positive attitude and determination to better this location.
